Comparing with X-wing (which probably plays totally different but sort of sits in the same category of game) it really bogs down when you have more than 5-6 ships per side. It can still be fun, but it's tedious and you sort of either make the same maneuver with all the ships all the time or just constantly botch the moves of a couple of ships each turn, just because your brain can't cope with all the possibilites same time.

It would probably have been better to do alternative aircraft types from the get go and bundle those.Laffehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09125733864107467243noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5944063453301890833.post-66333194535024415402018-02-25T06:04:36.129-08:002018-02-25T06:04:36.129-08:00On the bundle sizes I share your puzzlement. Looki...On the bundle sizes I share your puzzlement. Looking at the stats I would expect a standard game to be 4-6 planes a side \ player. I can handle that, but any more and I think I'm going to struggle. I think there is a fundamental disconnect in those starter bundles. Six planes is a good package point given elements will be either Vics of 3 or Pairs of 2, but the "Marketing Suits" seem to not grasp the nature of the game as far as those bundles go. Still, only a month to go so we will seeRenkohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01004520731687767415noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5944063453301890833.post-56041287801587523702018-02-25T05:52:35.330-08:002018-02-25T05:52:35.330-08:00I did like yourself, download the free rules, grab...I did like yourself, download the free rules, grab some models and have at it.

Yes it played quickly with 2 on 2, with victory going to the first lot to establish a decent firing position.
Nice, but a bit instant.

Tried again 6 vs 6, MUCH slower and chaotic, with a definite "Nail the enemy rookie" incentive.
Finished with the sort of gaming headache I used to associate with WRG ancients rules.
I wonder whether the extras in the full-fat game modify this much.

I like the concepts.
6 vs 6 seems chaotic (probably eminently suitable for WW1 dogfights).
Cannot understand why the kickstarter bundles feature such huge numbers of aircraft as 12v12 or 24v24 seems utterly unmanageable.SteveHolmes11https://www.blogger.com/profile/17392212343858957364noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5944063453301890833.post-867050182016239232017-08-01T02:22:32.930-07:002017-08-01T02:22:32.930-07:00Good write up.
